Lumeta Expert Selected to Present in Two Panels at Federal CIO Conference on IPv6 IT Security spacer

Karl Siil to Discuss How Government Agencies Can Begin Determining Network Security Policy and Standards as 2008 Federal Mandate for IPv6 Conversion Looms

Somerset, NJ- October 10, 2006 - Lumeta, the leading provider of network assurance solutions for enterprises and government agencies, today announced that Karl Siil, Lumeta's chief architect, was selected to participate in two panel sessions during the Federal CIO Conference on IPv6 IT Security in Lanham, MD, October 12, 2006.

The American Council for Technology (ACT) is gathering leaders in industry, academia and government to contribute knowledge and best practices on the topic of IT security and the transition from IPv4 to IPv6. During the Federal CIO Conference, panelists will address questions from those involved with IPv6 migration projects, providing advice and guidance during this critical transition period. Siil was selected for the panel based on his acknowledged expertise in identifying IPv6 migration issues. Siil was instrumental in launching Lumeta's IPv6 program in July 2004, establishing Lumeta as a leading authority for IPv6 migration issues.

Details on the specific sessions are as follows:
Panel 4: Security Equipment
Thursday, October 12, 9:15 - 10:30am

Panel 5: Applications
Thursday, October 12, 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Lumeta's IPv6 program defines network discovery in the huge IPv6 address space, where brute-force search is no longer an option, and determines how readily products can be adapted to this new domain. In January 2005, Karl launched the IPv6 Internet Mapping Project (I6MP), mapping the growing IPv6 Internet. During his time at Lumeta, Siil has witnessed and recorded seminal events in IPv6 evolution like the activation of China's CERNET2, the largest IPv6 network in the world.

During the Security Equipment and the Applications panel sessions, Siil will discuss how many organizations may not realize that they have already enabled IPv6 on their networks and are aware of the underlying implications.

"Many organizations have unwittingly enabled IPv6 on their networks by implementing the latest versions of operating systems, applications and network devices," said Siil. "This represents significant risk, and in order to mitigate risk in transitioning from IPv4 to v6, CIOs must first understand the extent of their networks and whether or not they are currently running IPv6 enabled devices."

The Security Equipment panel will educate attendees on the plans and lessons learned for supporting the availability of IPv6 and IPv4 security equipment such as intrusion detection devices, firewalls and security event management. The Applications panel offers attendees the opportunity to hear a discussion on supporting the availability of IPv6 and IPv4 applications such as operating systems, Voice/Radio over IP, wireless, e-authentication and certificate authority.

Lumeta recently announced the availability of its IPv4 to IPv6 Migration Planning Solution. The solution enables organizations to begin strategic planning now and provides a starting point for the migration. The company's flagship network assurance solution, IPsonar, provides a starting point and initial IPv6 migration road map. Specifically, IPsonar provides complete network visibility by identifying a network's assets, interconnections and IP addressing, and validating assumptions throughout the network.

About Lumeta Corporation
Lumeta provides large enterprises and government agencies with the global visibility needed to quantify network risk and measure the impact of network change. Our network assurance solutions enable IT organizations to deploy new business services, maintain existing service levels and minimize network security risk to ensure compliant operations.

Lumeta's flagship product, IPsonar, is the industry's only solution that allows organizations to measure risk from a global network perspective. IPsonar maps every asset on a network--including assets not currently under management--visualizes the connectivity between assets and networks to uncover risk patterns and policy weaknesses, and enables network and security teams to bring unknown assets under management while deploying security technology more effectively to mitigate risk.
