Discussion to Focus on Proper Processes to Ensure Successful Transition for the Largest Service Migration Ever Undertaken by the Federal Government

Somerset, NJ – December 5, 2007 – Lumeta, the leading provider of network assurance solutions for enterprises and government agencies, will be taking part in a Webinar moderated by Federal Computer Week, titled “Networx Transition Best Practices.” The Webinar takes place on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific.

With less than six months remaining in the recommended timeframe for agencies to have transition plans in place, agencies have a pressing need to develop requirements for the move based on a complete analysis of their current asset inventory, as well as clear definition of operational needs. Failure to deliver the requirements on time will significantly impact an agency’s ability to receive reimbursement of transition costs.

“The transition to Networx offers an opportunity for Federal Government agencies to take advantage of next-generation network services,” said Michael Markulec, executive vice president, technology and operations at Lumeta. “Networx also gives the public sector the opportunity to take advantage of innovations made in the private sector and deploy new technologies to manage and secure the infrastructure. In order for any organization to successfully make the transition, an accurate assessment of which assets need to be monitored and managed is essential.”

With Lumeta’s IPSonar, federal agencies can create a precise view of the complete network, allows MSPs to accurately scope a federal agency’s network management needs. At the same time, federal agencies can confirm that their needs are being accurately scoped, that all the agency network assets are being managed and that they are not opening themselves up to increased security risks.

During the Webinar, Lumeta will show how government agencies can obtain complete visibility into network connectivity and behavior, then use this information to balance the change necessary in the transition with risk management and policy imperatives while maintaining existing service levels. Critical Networx transition success factors will be discussed, along with best practices for scoping requirements and anticipating risk. Specifically, attendees will learn how to:

  • Assess their organizations’ current infrastructures and capabilities;
  • Build a Networx transition plan that accurately reflects the current picture of their infrastructures—focusing on gaps between policy and defenses;
  • Accurately estimate needed changes to the infrastructure including device upgrades; and
  • Limit unwanted connectivity or other risks to security posture during the changeover and post transition.

This 60-minute Webinar takes place on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific. Information can be found here.

About Lumeta Corporation
Lumeta provides large enterprises and government agencies with the global visibility needed to quantify network risk and measure the impact of network change. Our network assurance solutions enable IT organizations to deploy new business services, maintain existing service levels and minimize network security risk to ensure compliant operations.

Lumeta’s flagship product, IPsonar, is the industry’s only solution that allows organizations to measure risk from a global network perspective. IPsonar maps every asset on a network—including assets not currently under management—visualizes the connectivity between assets and networks to uncover risk patterns and policy weaknesses, and enables network and security teams to bring unknown assets under management while deploying security technology more effectively to mitigate risk.
